Onwards & Upwards - a chatty one

About 2 weeks ago, I received my IB results. To those of you that aren't familiar with what it is, it's an AP or A-levels equivalent 'leaving high-school' qualification. To say that that day was one of the most nerve-wracking days of my life is an understatement. The results only came out around 7:15pm so you can imagine what a lot of waiting around and nervous pacing I had to do. Basically, I tried to take my mind off that inevitable event and went to the arcade with a few friends. And why was I so worried? Because the results I hold will determine whether I go to my university of choice.

Needless to say, Facebook erupted with a bunch of statuses before and after results were released online and I am most happy to say that...I exceeded my predictions!!!!!!!! Which made me an extremely happy camper :') I can honestly say that this is quite possibly the first time that I've been truly proud of myself. Considering how the IB is such a rigorous program and how I've been psyching myself out, feeling so sure that I've failed every single test... Anyway, after summer holidays, guess who will be in England? Meeeeeee! Starting an undergraduate degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics at the University of Warwick :') I've never been out of Asia (well, apart from Australia and New Zealand) and have lived in the same country almost all my life so I am pretty excited and nervous to be living in a foreign country for the next 3 years of my life. It will definitely be a huge change, the next chapter, a period where I'm going to have to be more independent than I ever was. I'll admit that I'm not a huge fan of change and prefer to stick to a routine...but this is a change that I am willing to take. Everyone goes on about how University is the best period of your life and in the words of my aunt, "You'll only regret what you did not do." so I'm super excited to see what's in store for me in the next couple of years and enjoy being in the UK and maybe even get to travel around Europe...something that I've been wanting to do forever.

And of course, I hope to grow this little space and connect with international bloggers and maybe even meet some of the ones in the UK! (Jessica, I'm looking at you!) The next couple of months have loads of exciting things in store and I can't wait. England, here I come (:

Be right back, got a bunch of visa handling business to deal with ;)

"Make me your Aphrodite

Make me your one and only

But don’t make me your enemy, your enemy, your enemy"

- Dark Horse by Katy Perry

------------------------------------------------------------

Although I bought this crop top a while back, I haven't really featured it in any blog posts yet...oops. I'm really glad I got it though because it's one of my most worn tops to date. I love the racerback-ish cut and the mixture of orange, pinks and whites in a summery palm print. I actually wore this a few weeks back for a friend's 18th birthday at a fancy restaurant. When paired with a plain yet sophisticated black maxi skirt that my grandmother passed down to me, it looks elegant yet fun. Depending on your choice of footwear, it can also be transformed into a beach party look!

Depending on when you're reading this, I'll either be packing to go to Japan, on a plane to Japan or at Japan so... :D I'll be there for a little over a week so I have scheduled a few (maybe just one/two...) posts (: Also, did anyone also hear about the MH17 news? About how the passenger plane got shot down by an air missile over the Ukraine-Russia border? So upsetting. The only question I have is, why? And that has made me 10 times more paranoid about flying...but I'm praying that we'll all have a safe flight there and back because I'm super excited about visiting Japan :')

Life's Snapshots #12

Can't believe it's been 2 weeks since I posted an Instagram round-up kind of post. The last 2 weeks has been a blast. Well, the first not much so because it was kinda mundane...but then this week...all hell broke loose (not really) because a bunch of friends from abroad came back to visit! Cue daily outings, dinners, bowling, movies and all that kind of goodness. Last Sunday, was also the day my IB results came out. I was incredibly paranoid for the entire day (until 7:15pm) but that's another story for another time. On Saturday, I also went to Escape which is a cross between a music festival and a concert. Although the event was a tad muddy for my liking, the atmosphere was great and hey, I saw Sean Kingston live! Considering no one good ever comes to Vietnam, it's an achievement.

Also, I managed to get up at the ungodly hour of 2am to watch the World Cup Finals! First time I do this willingly for a football match..and this one lasted 3 hours :P But I'm the kind of person that likes keeps up with these kind of things and I even did my fair share of football news reading :D Anyway, it was such an intense match! Huge congratulations to Germany for winning, but I thought Argentina put up such a great fight and it was incredibly unlucky on their part - the many chances they had! Glad that Messi received the Golden Ball award though, he deserved it...and I just wanted to go all the way to Brazil and console him because he looked incredibly disappointed (naturally).

it always helps to have a little bit of faith // that night was crazy - saw Sean Kingston live! // yes, I think I will have a break and have a kit kat

just watched the world cup finals and now since it's 5am...I sleep

And that was a huge ramble. Anyway, I'm heading off to Malaysia on Wednesday and then...*drum roll* Japan on Sunday for which I'm super excited about so hopefully I will have some posts queued and tons to blog about when I'm back! Of course, keep up with my adventures and all that good stuff over at my Instagram or Twitter!

The Reading Habit Tag

Firstly, so sorry for the lack of posts (again). The whole posting schedule thing isn't really working out :/ The irony of summer is that you have no school, essentially nothing to do...yet you can't get a couple of posts up :P This week has been quite busy because a few of my old friends from abroad have come back to visit so I've been hanging out and catching up with them!  Also, on a super duper happy note that I haven't mentioned on the blog is that...I AM GOING TO UNIVERSITY! I'm so happy that it deserves a blog post on its own so look out for that :D

Anyway, I saw this tag on Hayley @ Water Painted Dreams and decided that it'd be a fun thing to do, especially since I really do love reading.

1. Do you have a certain place for reading at home?

My bed. It's the cosiest place in my whole house.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Umm...I'm guilty of folding down the page corners :/

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter or a certain number of pages?

If it's a really good book then I'll tell myself I'll stop after I finish the current chapter...but I rarely listen to myself.

4. Do you eat or drink when reading?
I'll admit I do that sometimes - when the book is too interesting to put down :P

5. Do you watch TV or listen to music whilst reading?

Nope. When I read, it just has to be me and the story world.

6. One book at a time or several at once?

I like reading one book at a time because I dislike having the different plots jumbled together and I hate having to read a few pages back to refresh my memory.

7. Reading at home or everywhere?

Everywhere and anywhere. Reading keeps me entertained.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Silently for sure - I'll probably lose my voice if I try to read a novel out loud. Also, people might think I'm weird.

9. Do you ever read ahead or skip pages?

Not really...although I do skim read through the boring bits.

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it new?

My books never end up looking new and the spine always ends up breaking :/ I will admit that I'm not one for taking extreme good care of my books...although whenever I borrow someone else's, I do try my best!

11. Do you write in your books?

Not even a bit.

12. What are you currently reading?
I'm actually not reading any new books at the moment because I can't seem to get my hands on any good ones. I do want to read the Game of Thrones series and see how it compares to the TV series, but I still want the element of surprise and don't want it to ruin the show for me so...maybe not just yet.

Not tagging anyone specifically so if you did the tag, be sure to comment and leave the link below!
