Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2013 - Round Up

I love watching the Victoria Secret Fashion Show each year because the themes and outfits are always so creative! This year, I watched it with the boyfriend and whilst he was ogling at the models (don't lie brah, we both know you were :P ), I was doing that and being excited as to what the themes will be this year!
Although, I was pretty bummed that Miranda Kerr didn't make an appearance :(
Here's a round up of the 2013 VS show with fun facts along the way:

Candice Swanepoel
The 18th Fantasy Bra costs $10 million and consists of a 52-carat pear-shaped ruby that dangles from the bra's centre, as well as 4,200 other precious stones, including diamonds, yellow sapphires and more rubies, all set in 18-karat gold, which forms the piece's shape and matching belt.

British Invasion

Behati Prinsloo : 'Queen's Guard' // Jourdan Dunn : 'Top Hat' // Lily Donaldson : 'Winston Churchill'

Lily Aldridge : 'Checkmate' // Barbara Fialho : 'A Tartan Taste' // Devon Windsor : 'Punk Rock'

Kasia Struss : 'Arresting Sight' // Cindy Bruna : 'Strutting in the Rain' // Cara Delevingne : 'Sporty Gal'

Adriana Lima : 'Pearly Queen' // Karlie Kloss : 'Psychedelic' // Taylor Swift

Fun fact:
- Adriana Lima's costume required 3000 Pearl Buttons!
The looks was inspired by an old English tradition where working class neighbours decorate their clothes with pears and mother-of-pearl buttons for their monarchs.
This is probably my favourite theme out of the whole show because it's so creative! My favourite is Behati Prinsloo's 'Queen's Guard'. Yes, I know Taylor Swift isn't a VS model, but I liked her outfit so (:
Birds of Paradise

Lindsay Ellingson // Jacquelyn Jablonski // Magdalena Frackowiak

Joan Smalls : 'Peacock' // Alessandra Ambrosio // Maria Borges

Erin Heatherton // Lais Ribeiro // Izabel Goulart

Hilary Rhoda

Fun Fact:
- 5'10'' is the average height of the models.
The tallest is 6'1'' and the shortest is 5'8''.
The scary part is, I'm only 5'1'' - what I would give to have those legs...

I found this theme pretty creative as well! All that colours and the way they try to mimic a type of bird (:

Shipwrecked

Behati Prinsloo // Doutzen Kroes // Alessandra Ambrosio

Lindsay Ellingson // Candice Swanepoel // Karlie Kloss

Toni Garrn // Lily Aldridge // Sui He

Martha Hunt // Sigrid Agren // Constance Jablonski

Fun fact
- 6  inches was the average heel height of custom Nicholas Kirkwood Shoes
- Sophia Webster also designed a set of 12 delectable shoes for the Shipwrecked theme
- There were 67 looks in the show

There weren't many wings in this one, which was :( But nevertheless, I love their dreamy outfits. Definitely fits the 'Shipwrecked' theme!

Pink Network

Elsa Hosk // Jessica Hart // Ieva Laguna

Ming Xi // Caroline Brasch // Malaika Firth

Josephine Skriver // Jasmine Tookes // Sara Sampaio // Jac Jagaciak

Fun fact:
- 5 hours of hair and makeup per girl
Models arrived at 9am and were preened by a team of 18 makeup artists and 22 hairstylists
- There were 39 models in total

This is probably my least favourite theme because I find it a tad ridiculous and tacky - I mean come on, what on earth are they wearing?!

Parisian Nights

Lais Ribeiro // Alessandra Ambrosio // Jourdan Dunn

Joan Smalls // Kelly Gale // Cara Delevingne

Izabel Goulart // Erin Heatherton // Barbara Fialho

Adriana Lima // Doutzen Kroes // Cindy Bruna

Fun fact:
- The runway is 20 feet wide and 100 feet long!
    - There were 1066 sears

I love the atmosphere for this one, but as for outfits, some of them were extraordinary, although to me, they were a bit samey-samey. Also, what's up with the yellow gloves for Cara?!

Snow Angels

Constance Jablonski // Candice Swanepoel // Toni Garrn //

Sui He // Lily Donaldson //  Maryna Linchuk

Behati Prinsloo // Karlie Kloss // Lindsay Ellingson

Lily Aldridge // Doutzen Kroes // Adriana Lima // Magdalena Frackowiak

Fun facts:
28 pairs of wings ranging from petite wire versions to lavish, floor-sweeping showstoppers were made in collaboration of an entire team of artists. Parisian Serkan Gura,  concocted extravagant wings inspired by tropical birds. Marian “Killer” Hose, sculptor extraordinaire, bent thousands of metal rods and handcrafted their beaded and chiffon-wrapped coatings. Shapeways, a company specializing in cutting edge 3D printing, was enlisted to create intricate snowflake structures.
Ohhh, this one puts me in a festive and Christmassy mood! Love the white snowflake wings and fur capes! They whole look I do not understand at all is Karlie's. What on earth is she wearing?!

The show this year wasn't bad at all! Especially love the creativity that goes into this and those wings! Would love to have a pair ;)  My favourite theme is the British Invasion and Snow Angel one - which one's yours?

Party Tips for the Century

Hosting a party could be daunting, but very rewarding if it's a huge success! Here's a few tips that I feel makes a great party (:

1. Think of a theme

Themed parties make things a little more interesting and are easier to plan! You can match the decor, food and music to the theme, get your guests to dress up accordingly and bring something theme related and even play theme-orientated games! A make-shift Quidditch game for die-hard Harry Potter fans (meeee!) anyone?
The theme can be virtually anything. Your favourite series, movie/tv show, an event e.g The Oscars, Cirque du Soleil... or even more generic themes like under the sea, all things french, hearts or the colour orange. Come on, you must've attended a themed prom!
Last Halloween, my friend threw a 7 deadly sin  party which was genius! We had to come dress up as one of the 'sin' and she a different section of her house representing different 'sins' with corresponding food! It was so much fun!
Here are some of my favourite themes:
Harry Potter - cause I'm a huge fan

2. Plan ahead

It's wise to keep a checklist of everything that needs to be done in time for the party to because you want to avoid last minute rushes and sudden changes! Some things such as booking the caterer, sending out invites may need to be weeks in advance whilst others like preparing the food, setting up decor or buying groceries can take from hours to days. So prepare a list with the 'deadline' next to it and actually stick with it!

3. DJ it up

Set up a playlist depending on the type and possibly theme of  the party. More upbeat, festive music for a normal get together kind-of party and maybe more mellow tunes for dinner. Also observe the age range and tastes/preference of your guest and adjust the music volume according to the sound level. No one wants to be shouting over background music!
You can even go with your chosen theme and choose songs based around them (:

4. Have fun.

As cheesy as it sounds, have fun. YOU (the host/hostess) set the mood. So if you're having a good time, your vibe will give off and everyone will too - it's like follow the leader (:

Just to end off - me having a bit of fun. I promise you I'm normally sane and do act my age :D

Hope you guys enjoyed the tips and have fun throwing your parties - do not forget a camera to take pictures to commemorate those memoriessss (:
