Transition to Fall with Julep

When Abbey from Julep contacted me to do a post about transition your nail polish from those bright summer shades to beautiful ones, I was on board. Fall nail colours actually excite me because I'm more into the darker, classier and more mysterious shades that complements this time of year. The handy infographic below showcases some of the top summer shades and its fall equivalent - so if you spy your favourites, you know which to try next.

For my mood board, I've decided to choose the shade 'Beverly' which is a described as a boysenberry creme - sounds super yum.

To make the glamorous deep purple shade stand out, I've decided to go with my favourite A/W print - tartan, and chose two different colour variations to mix it up a little. I paired this dark green based tartan smock dress with a red based tartan scarf and a neutral trench coat that can keep you all warm and snuggly as temperatures drop. Of course, what fall look is complete without a classic pair of chunky black boots! This mixture of dark and neutral shades will compliment the vampy purple without looking too gloomy - after all, that's what the weather's for!

What's your favourite fall shade this season?

Christmas Countdown // Day 4 = 4 Festive Nail Art Ideas

Only 4 days to Christmas now! Wheeeeee!
(Pssst, if you missed yesterday's post, I got you covered! It's hereeeeeee)
Although I am absolutely hopeless at painting my own nails, here are 4 amazing Christmassy nail art designs that you could gain inspiration from to amp up the festivity! Hopefully you'll do a wayyy better job than me :P

*credits go to their respective owners that are wayyy more talented than me*

I love this snowflake design that actually looks quite simple to achieve, that maybe even I can give it a go!

I love how there's a combination of Christmassy themed things going on in this so if you don't know which to choose... CHOOSE THEM ALL! The Santa Claus and Candy cane stripes are the best in my opinion (:

If you're not into hard core Christmas novelty themed nails, this is more subtle, classy and still festive (:

This is another adorable one that I think will be actually quite simple to achieve! Lovveeeee it!

On a side note, I got my early Christmas present from the good people of UCAS because... I got a conditional offer to the University of Bath! Yayyy! It's one of my top choices so I'm quite happy (:
Also, it's the beginning of Christmas holidays which is amazing cause I can't wake up naturally and without an alarm! Bliss.
Oh and, if you want more Christmas goodness, my Pinterest is HERE (:

NOTD // Jordana 'In Love'

Nail colour: Jordana 'In Love'

I got gifted this by my aunt and I really like it (:
I would describe it as a shimmery light nudey-pink and when it catches the sunlight, it looks really nice!
This nail polish was incredibly sheer. 3 coats gave it an almost opaque finish but I think 1 coat of this would be good for layering on other more matte or opaque nail polish shades like I did HERE to give it a shimmer effect.

I think this is a great subtle nail polish as it's quite close to my skin tone so I may be able to get away with it at school :P Great if you want some colour on your nails, but do not want it to be too bright or eye-catching.

What's your favourite shimmer nail polish?

P.S: Please do vote for me for a Missguided competition HERE - it will only take a few seconds and I'll be eternally grateful!

NOTD // Breaking the Habit

I have a super duper bad habit of biting my nails for a long time now and which I am trying to break. That said, I'm not much of a nail polish junkie because my school doesn't allow painted nails and the hassle of having to paint them nicely and then remove them has always put me off.

But after seeing numerous nail swatches and nail art around the World Wide Web, I've become inspired. Thus, in a bid to break my habit AND have pretty nails, I've started painting my nails with my very limited collection of nail polish (:
My theory is that if my nails look good, I'll be less tempted to bite them - so far, it's working!

This is my attempt at nail art. I don't own any specific tools and am not the best at painting my nails either...

Anyway, I thought that teal and gold go really well together so I made teal my main colour, added gold dots using the ends of a paper clip and accented my ring finger with the same gold colour (:

Not bad for a first attempt I'll say :P

Colours used:

Nail Polish For Better Life : 554
Lilan Vital Nail Lacquer - Gold ( Although the colour is gorgeous, I'm not a big fan of this polish as it is quite streaky :/ )

So far, I've gone a week without biting my nails! Yayyyy! I'm going to keep this up and hopefully stop for good (: Here's to pretty nails (:\
