NOTD // Jordana 'In Love'

Nail colour: Jordana 'In Love'

I got gifted this by my aunt and I really like it (:
I would describe it as a shimmery light nudey-pink and when it catches the sunlight, it looks really nice!
This nail polish was incredibly sheer. 3 coats gave it an almost opaque finish but I think 1 coat of this would be good for layering on other more matte or opaque nail polish shades like I did HERE to give it a shimmer effect.

I think this is a great subtle nail polish as it's quite close to my skin tone so I may be able to get away with it at school :P Great if you want some colour on your nails, but do not want it to be too bright or eye-catching.

What's your favourite shimmer nail polish?

P.S: Please do vote for me for a Missguided competition HERE - it will only take a few seconds and I'll be eternally grateful!

NOTD // Mixing it Up

Most of you will have known that in a bid to stop myself from harming my nails (aka biting) I've starting painting them! Something my school forbids but since it's summer, I'm freeeeeee ;)
I must say that it's going rather well! Have not touched my nails in a week/two

That said, my nail polish collection is mediocre. It's tiny. I only have about 4 shades? Which is why when I'm bored of the same colours, I try to mix and match to create new-ish shades!

With these nail polish colours:

L: New Elite Nail Polish Professional (sorry, I'm not sure which shade as it's a local Vietnamese brand & a friend gave it to us!)

R: Jordana In Love

I've managed to turn this (a bright purple/fuschia):

Into this:

A more shimmery purpley/pink!  See the difference? (:

After the usual 3 coats of the bright purple base, I painted 1 coat of the shimmery pink. Since it's quite sheer, it layers on very nicely by giving it a hint of shimmer! I must say I like how this turned out and how it catches the light too (how poetic) (:

I guess what I'm trying to say is, play with the shades you've got to create new (and maybe better) shades!

What's your favourite nail polish combination?

NOTD // Breaking the Habit

I have a super duper bad habit of biting my nails for a long time now and which I am trying to break. That said, I'm not much of a nail polish junkie because my school doesn't allow painted nails and the hassle of having to paint them nicely and then remove them has always put me off.

But after seeing numerous nail swatches and nail art around the World Wide Web, I've become inspired. Thus, in a bid to break my habit AND have pretty nails, I've started painting my nails with my very limited collection of nail polish (:
My theory is that if my nails look good, I'll be less tempted to bite them - so far, it's working!

This is my attempt at nail art. I don't own any specific tools and am not the best at painting my nails either...

Anyway, I thought that teal and gold go really well together so I made teal my main colour, added gold dots using the ends of a paper clip and accented my ring finger with the same gold colour (:

Not bad for a first attempt I'll say :P

Colours used:

Nail Polish For Better Life : 554
Lilan Vital Nail Lacquer - Gold ( Although the colour is gorgeous, I'm not a big fan of this polish as it is quite streaky :/ )

So far, I've gone a week without biting my nails! Yayyyy! I'm going to keep this up and hopefully stop for good (: Here's to pretty nails (:\
