2014: Personal Style Roundup

Radiant Orchid // Clarity // Wingardium Leviosa // Roses are Red

It seems not so long ago when I was putting together my outfit posts of 2013...I would say that style-wise, my taste has kinda changed drastically since 2013 (some are so cringe-worthy), but throughout this year, it has remained relatively similar although I ventured out of my little zone a bit and tried some new and different pairings/trends.

This year, I have only posted 22 outfit posts which seriously isn't a lot (although I do have a backlog of outfit posts to be posted...just got to get round doing that). I guess with major exams, trips and most of all, trying to work out how and where to take outfit pictures in my tiny room at Uni (I am bound to get questions if I start taking them outdoors)...it's gotten kind of hard and I am still trying to figure that out to be honest. Anyway, here are all of my looks and links to them for any outfit details you may want to know!

My First Ever Primark Haul

Sometimes I feel like Primark is a foreigner/tourist's rite of passage into the UK because it's just something that is becoming somewhat iconic. Thus, when I landed in the UK, one of the things I made sure that I did was go to Primark. Let's just say that it was a pretty life changing experience - without wanting to sound too dramatic. But I shall leave my first impressions of Primark for another time and instead, show you what I got! Although to be fair, I didn't go crazy in there...although I easily could have. The amount of self-restraint I had to go through to put back 75% of the things that were in my basket before going to the cashier...which by the way, was getting way to heavy to carry around.

£6 each

Probably one of my favourite purchases in the entire haul because I'm just such huge fans of both! I actually do not own a Harry Potter shirt...albeit being a self proclaimed Potterhead so, mission accomplished. In the Harry Potter section, there was also the same Hogwarts crest in a acid washed grey background, as well as a Gryffindor and Hufflepuff one. I also bought 2 more for my sisters :') For my Game of Thrones shirt, I actually wore it during the 'Rave of Thrones' event during Freshers where the actor that played Hodor came to DJ ;) I also like how the sleeves on either side are turned up.

French crop tee: £5 reduced to £2 // Christmas pudding tee: £5

I saw this insanely cute shirt with a French french fry that said 'Bonjour Mon Amour' and since it was reduced
to £2, I thought, why not? Would be a good casual tee. However, I will have to say that my Christmas
pudding shirt on the right steals the show because, how amazing is that?! And it was only a fiver.
Would be amazing during Christmas time. Although I will say that the shirt material is a little stiff.
They also had one in a Santa Claus style which I really really really want!
Floral top: £6

How nice is this top? I love the dainty white collar and the monochromatic palette that I just think
completes the top. Also, it would look great paired with anything - jeans, shorts, skirts...you name it.

Red velvet-ish skirt: £8

I absolutely adore this skirt, although I do think that the price is a tad steep for what it is... I love the
red colour, the style and it's super appropriate for autumn/winter! The material is also slightly thicker
and heavier than usual skater skirts, with a velvet/wooly texture (yes, this is my best description). I've
been wearing this quite a few times and no doubt I will continue to ;) It also comes in many more
colours like a khaki green which I would love to get as well.

£4 each

Due to the changing weather, my neck was getting a little chilly as I walk around campus so I
thought I'd better pick up some scarves. I absolutely love them both. Although the material isn't the
thickest, it does keep me warm enough! How amazing is the tartan one though?!

2 pairs thermal socks: £2.50 // Cosy footlets: £2.50

I'm really bad at withstanding cold weather - not surprising, seeing as I come from a country with
tropical climate all year round... - so I thought I better stock up on some warmer items for my poor
feet when it gets cold. I haven't worn the thermal socks yet, but I think they're better than the 'cosy'
fluffy socks Primark also has because you can wear these to bed and in with your boots to keep
those feet toasty warm. They have tons of patterns so I have to pick up more pairs :D

Those cosy footlets weren't exactly essentials, but I wanted slipper like things to walk around my
dorm room and these are incredibly incredibly soft and fuzzy and cosy. May get dirty easily but
seriously, comfiest thing. The burgundy tartan print also adds a nice touch.

Tights with fleecy lining: £3.50

I thought these were really quite pricey for tights :( Butbut, having said that, they are actually
quite cosy and thick and do keep my legs warm so...I guess I can't complain! I also bought the usual
3 pack 40 dernier opaque black tights because hey, that's what everyone gets in Primark. Don't have
them pictured because I've used them and it's all over my room. I must say that they're lasting quite
well at the moment as I've had no tears or bobbles yet!

Belt: £1

Got these simply because I needed something to make my pants stay up.

Beanie: £3

Everyone needs a good beanie and I absolutely love this one! Especially the pom-pom at the top! I
think it makes a great accessory (:

2 pack of gloves: £1

Because my hands get ridiculously cold when exposed.

Navy leather crossbody bag: £6

I actually really like this bag and I find that it's great for traveling when you want to keep your
essentials e.g passport, wallet close by without having to rummage through a huge bag! It has many
compartments are the material is soft leather which feels really nice! I believe they had this in a
nudey-pink and khaki as well.

So yea, this is what I got. Nothing big but I still loveeeee it! So sorry that my posting has been so sporadic but I'm just starting to get into the swing of things!

P.S: Don't forget to check out my Depop for clothes and more at great bargain prices!!

Life's Snapshots #9

This week was not a bad one at all - came back from the grad trip (post up soon, I promise!) so just chilled, went to the IB art exhibition and saw some incredible masterpieces by my friends. If only I had that kind of talent! Started watching Game of Thrones to see if it's really as good as everyone says. Although it's not that mind-blowingly amazing as most claim, it's still quite good! Although there is blood and nudity in almost every episode #truestory

If you follow my Twitter, you'll also know that I picked up yoga in a bid to make my stiff joints and muscles more flexible. Who would've thought that it was so tiring and makes my butt and body ache just having to twist into all those positions. I try to go daily (:

May Haul // ASOS, eBay, Persunmall, Kiss The Sky & more...

Another month, a few things that I've got!

I featured this in my wishlist 2 weeks ago! Denim shorts are the perfect thing to keep cool during summer, and what better way to do that than a pair of awesome flower printed ones to keep things from getting too boring? I love how the print is simple yet stands out amongst ordinary denim shorts. Pair it with crop tops on the beach, crochet items at a festival or button downs to look smart-casual!

Mint scalloped hem tank top - eBay (US$8.31 // £4.95)

Your basic tank top with a scalloped hem for added detail - good basic pieces are great when building a
foundation for your wardrobe of any season! What's not to love?

Angel cut out top - eBay (US$4.29 // £2.55)

Front, looks like your average black tee. Back, the party just got started. Smexy angel wings cut outs means that
you show adequate amount of skin without going overboard! Wear this with a printed bandeau for added fun or
perhaps as a cover up at the beach? Also, this top is perfect if you've always dreamed of having angel wings...
be careful of that tan, your wish just might be granted ;)

Pink skater skirt - eBay (US$5.45 // £3.25) // Polka dot skirt - eBay (US$5.94 // £3.54)

Simple skater skirts for everyday wear. The shade blush is becoming increasingly popular (or maybe I just like
that colour) and hey, polka-dotted anything is a winner.

High rise skinny jeans - New Look via ASOS (similar on New Look site here)

I will take time to praise these pair of jeans because they are now my new favourite pair. I've been loving high-rise jeans lately because they're just so flattering, especially for those of you with a smaller waist in proportion because it emphasizes that (yay!). Anyway, these jeans are so comfy and fits perfectly. All my other 'high-rise' or 'high-waisted' jeans have always had the awkward gap at the waist which I hate, but these...cling at all the right places (insert starry-eyed emoji) Of course, I still have to cuff them because I'm tiny but nevertheless, love these.

Cami Crochet dress - Kiss The Sky via ASOS (US$22.86 // £12.00)

I saw this on the ASOS site and knew that I had to get them! It looked so good on the model and it looks
even better on - the pictures do it no justice. I've always wanted a crochet-waisted (does that make sense?)
dress so...voila! It's definitely great for summer, going to the beach, music festival, sight-seeing...the works. And
it's so light and flowy that it won't take up much space/weight in your luggage (for those that tend to overpack
perhaps...like me). Plus, the straps are adjustable which are always great (:

Leather trim asymmetric mini skirt - ASOS (US$14.29 // £7.50)

I got this in case I needed one for more formal occasions and I was drawn to the leather trim! Your normal
bodycon skirt really but it's a wardrobe staple with a leather twist.

Map watch - eBay (US$2.75 // £1.64)

Ahhh, the infamous map watch to satisfy (only ever so slightly) the travel-buds. This map watch has a very
vintage vibe to it which makes it great for all occasions! Slightly peeved that there are no numbers on this watch
which makes telling time difficult...defeating it's purpose but for that price, I'll just get it to add to my collection
and because it has a bloody map of the world on it!

Wildfox inspired sunglasses - eBay (US$2.80 // £1.67)

Perhaps not the most practical, but definitely the coolest ;)

Sunglasses - eBay (US$3.12 // £1.86)

Love these sunglasses, they fit well considering I have no nose bridge so they do stay up pretty alright! It also
comes with a sunglasses case (at least mine did) which is even better and you has space to store 2 pairs!

Jewellery - gifted by an aunt in New Zealand

Thought I'd include these anyway because they're really lovely pieces of jewellery! I had a picture of the necklace up on my Instagram recently!

Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick in #107 - ASOS (US$10.46 // £5.49) // Maybelline Master Liner

I've heard such good things of the Kate Matte Lipstick in #107 and I was in need of a plum/berry shade in my collection! So of course I picked that up. I also needed black eyeliner since I've been depending on my dark blue one for what seems like forever. I'll be reviewing these as well as a billion of other things I said I'd review real sooooon! I promise!

What have you picked up this May?
