Double Braided Headband: How To

I've been seeing myself wearing braids AND headbands (separately) a lot lately - but in very simple styles. I'm a big failure when it comes to styling my hair so if it's simple and quick, I'm in. Anyway, I've seen lots of pictures with people wearing braided headbands - headbands in the form of braids...of your own hair! - before, but always thought that it required real talent to do - something I would never be able to do in a million years. Yet I found this tutorial and it's actually much simple then you'd expect!

 Here's how to do it:
What you need:

Optional: Hairspray + Tease comb
Steps
1. Gather all your hair into a high ponytail - apart from a strand of hair (about 4cm wide, but adjust according to how thick you want your braid to be) just below your ear on BOTH sides
2. Braid one side of your hair normally and bring it over your head, on to the other side and pin it in place
3. Do the same to the other side, placing it next to the other braid
4. Adjust according to how front/back you would like your headband to be
5. Optional: Use hairspray to set it in place
Something different: Now that you've got your headband, you can do what you want with the rest of your hair! Put it in a bun, ponytail, leave it down with curls or have it half-up-half-down

Result

As you can see, I went for the 'half up half down' style and only tied up the top part of my hair (:

I love this style! It's unique yet VERY simple! And you can dress it up with a bun, or down with a ponytail. It's all up to you! I actually accomplished this one night when I got bored revising for Geography and had a mini self dance party when I did! Hehehe C:

This would work best for medium to long hair - well, as long as you have enough to wrap it over the crown of your head!

How celebrities wear it:

This has to be my favourite one because it looks so effortless and classy!

Because I'm not very good at explaining in words, go to THIS LINK for step by step images (:

How to Style: Cropped Tribal Print Tank + OOTD (Part 2/2)

As mentioned in my previous post (GO TO PART 1 HERE), I received a FOREVER 21 CROPPED TRIBAL PRINT TANK TOP from my lovely bestie as a birthday present! So I had some fun creating some ideas as to how I will style it (even though I'm meant to be revising, shhhh) (:
Cropped Tribal Print Top: Forever 21 // MOTO Black Skinny Leigh Jeans: Topshop // Autumn Belle Brown Booties // Brown crossbody bag

This is definitely a more polished yet casual look as it incorporates more neutral colours (browns & blacks) whilst keeping it interesting with the pop of hot pink.

Cropped Tribal Tank Top: Forever 21 // Destroyed Denim Midi Shorts: American Eagle Outfitters // Lola Embellished Sandals: UK Accessorize // I'd Rather Be At the Beach Alphabet Bag: Lemon & Mint // Floppy Beach Hat // Brown Beaded Bracelet //

I created this look with the beach and summer in mind! Since this top is flowy, it's perfect for keeping cool during the summer weather with either a bikini top or bandeau underneath. Pair it with sandals, floppy hat and a simple tote bag and you're ready for strolling along the beach promenade (:

Cropped Tribal Print Tank: Forever 21 // Purple Bodycon Skirt // Suede Black Wedges: Reflection // Black oversized bag // Vintage Hinged Owl Necklace: Babi Online // Chain & Purple Feather Earrings: Charlotte Russe

In my opinion, this look is more dressy as the bodycon skirt, black wedges and oversized bag makes it more formal yet fun and young! Perfect for a night out, or a presentation at university or work!

And here's MY take on the third look (:

Top: Forever 21 // Purple bodycon skirt: Kitschen // Owl necklace: Claire's Accessories // Grey oversized cardigan: unbranded // Purple feather earrings: Diva

I added a cardigan to keep things more casual and for added warmth (:

Do you like the looks? How would you style it?

Featuring: Cropped Tribal Print Tank (Part 1/2)

Pictures taken from Forever 21 official website; edited by me

A cropped racerback tank featuring a tribal print. Round neckline. Knit. Lightweight.

Do you see that lovely top up there? Well it was my birthday about a month ago and my bestie that lives in Thailand very kindly gave me this as my birthday present! (Thank you Pichi!)

As you can see, my bestie knew me well because she got it in bright pink & black! However, the teal/yellow one looks equally as awesome (: The material is very light and flowy which is perfect for warm summer days or as a cover up on the beach! I'm also loving the print as it gives it a fun-factor without looking complicated!

However, the arm holes are quite big so unless you intend to show your bra, it gives you the chance to wear a lovely printed bandeau underneath! I got this in size S & it grazes the top of my hips so it's cropped, but not outrageously cropped. It's quite baggy so I suggest you get it in a size smaller (: Nevertheless, at $8.80, it's still a bargain and in my opinion a perfect mix-and-match piece for the summer wardrobe (:

Maybelline: Baby Lips Pink Glow

Disclaimer: Picture from site but edited by me

Disclaimer: Image taken from the Maybelline official site

I didn't know that Maybelline released new products in their 'Baby Lips' range until I came across a print ad in a magazine. In case you do not know, I ADORE Maybelline's lip balm and have 3 in my collection! (shown HERE) So naturally, I am excited about this because the lip balms I currently have no colour and this one appears to give a nice, natural pink (: Anyway, here's what it says on the site:

Description:
Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Glow is a colour fusion lip balm:
- Colour enhancing balm that reacts to the unique chemistry of your lips, to give your lips a natural, pink glow
- Protects and moisturises lips for a full 8 hours
- Lips are more moisturised, smoother, more supple and firmer in just 4 weeks
She will let your lips glow with a healthy blush. How? She transforms your natural lip color to an irresistible pink glow by reacting with your unique lips chemistry. With her, it is always fun! What's more, she moisturizes lips for 8 hours long, perfect for a day out with your gal pals

For best results:

Apply as often as needed to achieve nourished lips with a pink glow unique to you

Available in 2 sprightly pink shades:

1. Pink Blast (darker shade)
2. Baby Pink (lighter shade)

The packaging is the iconic Maybelline Baby Lips kind of packaging only with more pink :P I actually really do want to get hold of this because a) to expand my collection b) because I'm a sucker for Maybelline's Baby Lips range. I would like to see how the 'pink glow' plays out on my lips and if it actually does moisturize for a full 8 hours - although I love Baby Lips, I must say that that claim is untrue because I often have to reapply every 2-3 hours.

Have you tried this product? Do you want to?
