What has the world come to?

Okay, I'll start off by saying that this post is very unlike anything that I've posted in my entire blog archives - just a heads up, don't say I didn't warn you! Today's post was meant to be a nicer, happier one but with current world affairs, I thought I'd reflect on the reality of things. After all, a change once in a while is good right?

If any of you have kept up with the news lately (I know I'm a bit behind myself), you would've heard about the kidnap of about 200 Nigerian schoolgirls by the Boko Haram terrorist group, as well as the conflict between China and Vietnam over the placement of an oil rig in undecided territory that both nations deem their own.

The incident between China and Vietnam reaches closer to home because right now, near where I'm living in south Vietnam, there has been riots, protests and actual burning down of Chinese factories. Except, hundreds of other people gets hurt because the industrial area that was targeted also consists of Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese and Singaporean industries. The situation is also so bad that the Malaysian embassy told everyone to place a Malaysian flag outside their homes, offices and shops and my dad even told me to not mention my Chinese ethnicity.

What has the world come to?

I'm not saying that one party is right and the other is wrong. In fact, I think both are. I'm not going to pretend that I know anything about politics, because I don't. But politics or no politics, two wrongs don't make a right. And between that and the Nigerian girls kidnapping, this has got to stop. We have got to stop retaliating by seeking vengeance and potentially hurting innocent people. We're meant to prosper together, not tear each other down. Anger is a volatile thing. But for the sake of everyone that's affected, whether directly or indirectly, something has to be done before it's too late.

P.S: My posts have become rather sporadic and I've been absent lately because I'm currently doing my exams which are super duper important. However, I've got 6 papers left (#helpme) and my last one is on Tuesday so...posting schedule will return to normal soon!

This is it, the end of Christmas holidays

(via Pinterest)

I did not originally plan on writing this post but... I obviously changed my mind :P
I start school tomorrow which means Christmas holidays are over - Term 2 is about to begin... I'm not that excited to be honest. Especially since the boyfriend left to go back to England today and I won't be seeing him for another 3 months (give or take)...so today was a double whammie.
Don't get me wrong, my friends are the only good thing there - but I just hate the workload, stress and all that kind of shiz that school brings which significantly depletes my energy levels. Especially since it's my final year and I've got mocks in about...5 days and the real exams in about 5 months. So teachers will no doubt be pushing us even harder.

I've been relatively productive during this 3 weeks...got most of my revision done but I still have my TOK essay due on Thursday and the book Antigone to read for English by Friday...both of which I've been putting off due to my lack of motivation and master at procrastination. I guess that's where the quote comes in. Something which I should definitely adhere to since my exams = super important = university D: D: All that pressure!

Due to limited sleep and more deadlines, this also means that blog posts may be less frequent...although I'll try my hardest! Here's to months of revision and non stop work. Hopefully I'll gather up some motivation and stop putting things I dislike doing off...cause it'll just bite me right back in the ass. sigh I never do learn, do I. Oh, the life of a student.

Wish me luck in my mock exams! (:

P.S:  I would love it if you like my Facebook page!

Beginner's Guide to Blogging

Hey guys, today I'm linking up with Jacquelyn for the first ever "Tip Tuesday". This week's theme is... *drum roll* Blogging Tips! (:
Since I've only started blogging myself about a month ago, I admittedly do not have that much experience. However, I would like to share with you a few 'starter' tips on getting started and making a name for your blog in the blogosphere (love that word).
Without further adieu, here's a beginner's guide to blogging:
1. Think of a good URL

The best URLs are catchy, easy to write and thus, easy to remember. You can draw your URL inspiration from anything! Your favourite things, the main focus of your blog, favourite song...anything and everything. Unleash your creativity!
2. What will your blog be about?

There are loads of different 'types' of blogs. Beauty, fashion, lifestyle, food, hair, fitness...anything you can think of. It's often that you'll connect with bloggers in the blogosphere with similar interests as yours (: Your blog can be a combination of a few topics but it's best if they're generally related. Most importantly, it should reflect your interests and your personality because then, it'll make blogging regularly a whole lot easier, interesting and more fun!
3. Posts planning

Like everything else in life, it's much easier to have a plan so you know what you'll write about each day of the week. And if something interesting suddenly comes up, you can easily shift your schedule without being disorganized and going crazy trying to remember what post was scheduled for what day.
4. Pictures, pictures, pictures

It's boring to just read a large chunk of text so spice up your posts by having pictures! You don't really need to invest in a super expensive and professional Canon or Nikon, but just make sure that it's of reasonably good quality and has top notch content. You can also take pictures from the Internet but be sure to source them if possible!
5. Layout: Simplicity is key

Your layout is what everyone will first see when they go on to your blog so that will be their first impression! My tip would be to make it aesthetically pleasing by keeping it neat, have a colour scheme with no more than 4 colours and a pretty yet simple background - either printed or just plain! Have a nice header that's unique and creative and play with fonts - but have no more than 2/3 different ones! No two blogs are the same so tweak it, spice it up and make it yours.

How I Met Your Mother (S08E23)

Episode Title: "Something Old"

*SPOILER ALERT*SPOILER ALERT*

For all of you that do not know, I've been keeping up with HIMYM (How I Met Your Mother) for a while now & I LOVE it. Although I do wonder when they will finally show Ted's wife!

Nevertheless, I really loved this episode! Not only do you find out something new and vulnerable about the 'tough' and independent woman Robin is, but with Ted as well (: I thought this episode was a little nostalgic and sad due to Marshall & Lily leaving to Italy, leaving Ted behind whilst Robin and Barney are planning to get married...

The focus in the episode was definitely on Ted has he discovers more about inner-self. From this episode, I can't help but think that Ted may be the better choice for Robin than Barney is... although seeing that played out on screen will be incredibly saddening & heartbreaking :/ But, that can't be the case (or can it...?)

Question: What will happen to Robin & Barney's relationship? Will Ted be involved in some way? I can't wait for the next episode!

Btw, if that ^^^ happens, I will flip tables.
