What I Heart This Week #1

1. Hokkaido Cake

My aunt brought these back for us and I AM IN LOVE WITH THEM! Although called Hokkaido Cake, apparently they're not from Hokkaido? Not sure :P They're basically soft, chiffon, butter cake with cream filling and icing sugar dusted on the top. They're incredibly soft and almost melt in your mouth - who doesn't like that! Omnomnomnomnom! If you haven't tried this, you have to.
Recipe: HERE

2. Tetris!

Whenever I'm bored, I play tetris on my phone. It's a good mind-game and fun too (:
I'm not that good, but I'm improving ;)

3. Beauty And The Geek

My guilty pleasure. Blame my sisters, they got me hooked. I'm usually not a big fan of reality shows and I think parts of this is scripted but it's a fun watch and funny at places (:

4. Jodi Picoult

I love most of her books - My Sister's Keeper, Lone Wolf, House Rules, Handle With Care...they're on my favourite reading list! She often combines science, forensic and the law all into one and it's really good - all the books have completely different scenarios too!

What are you loving this week?

Media Rave Sunday #7

Music
Please Don't Say You Love Me - Gabrielle Aplin

The boyfriend showed me this - at first I thought it was a rather strange name for a song title but the song is actually quite good (: Have a listen!
TV

Watched this yesterday & it has become one of my favourite movies!

If you like magic (or if you don't) you must must must must watch this. I'll try to describe my feelings towards this movie without giving anything away.
In this movie, things are not what you expect. There are tons of plot twists and this movie keeps you on your toes guessing - the one you suspect is most likely wrong. The tricks performed are ingenius, amazing and mind-boggling - I'm not kidding, go watch it if you don't believe me.
Also, Dave Franco (James Franco's younger brother) is incredibly...attractive in this movie - <3

A MUST WATCH - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Have you listened to that song by Gabrielle Aplin or watched 'Now You See Me'? What are your thoughts on it?

Media Rave Sunday #6

Music

Red - Taylor Swift

I don't listen to her songs much nowadays, but I've always found this one to be very catchy!

TV

I actually watched this a longgg while ago and I loved it! Which prompt me to read the book that the movie was based on and the book was amazing! I wasn't that keen on this because it was written by Stephanie Meyer and I wasn't a huge fan of Twilight but I'm glad I gave it a chance (:

I tried reading the book prior to the movie but didn't really understand what was going on so I watched the movie then re-read the book which helped me loads!
Plus, Jake Abel and Max Irons are omnomnomnomnom ;)

Media Rave Sunday #5

Music

Heart on Fire - Jonathan Clay

This song is so beautiful. I love it.

TV

I recently rewatched this movie after agesssss! I think the title is a bit misleading because it's not a bit morbid. A chick flick and an oldie, but a goodie (: If you want a laugh or like some romance, watch this.

Media Rave Sunday #4

What I'm raving about this week:
Music

Clarity - Zedd ft. Foxes
First heard this song when Sam Tsui covered it (He is amazing, must go check him out). This song is a great song (:
TV
The Great Gatsby (2013)
Finally got a chance to watch this on the last day of school with my friends! I actually had to study the novel (by F.Scott Fitzgerald) for my IGCSEs last year - which was a pain analysing it - so it was interesting to see how they interpreted the story. It was rather exciting since after analysing it, I knew all the symbolic references and even remembered the prominent quotes! :D
I thought the casting was quite good. Daisy (Carey Mulligan), Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio), Tom, Myrtle and Nick Carraway was all how I imagined them to be! But I've always seen Wilson as being much older and Jordan with longer hair.
All in all, considering it was a portrayal of a classic 1920 novel, it kept as close to the story as possible, the music (although some were a bit out of place), costumes and setting were incredible. Highly recommend it!

Media Rave Sunday #3

What I'm raving about this week:
Music

The Other Side - Jason Derulo

Max Schneider and Keke Palmer made a cover of this song, I listened to it and really liked it! I especially love Jason Derulo's lyric video of it and it's so catchy :D
TV

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone anyone? :P I'm a sucker for romantic comedies & this one did not disappoint! I will admit that I cried in some parts because... that's just me... but honestly, this is a must watch (:

Media Rave Sunday #2

Here's what I'm raving about this week:
Music

It's Time - Imagine Dragons

I'm really loving the band 'Imagine Dragons' right now & I think that they should be given more credit in the music industry. It's Time is probably my favourite song out of the bunch and my friends and I are attempting to do this song in Battle of the Bands this year!

TV/ The Big Screen

Pretty Little Liars - Season 4

I've read the books a longgg time ago & although the tv series have little to no relations to the book... it's still super interesting and dramatic. I've been waiting forever for Season 4 to begin and the first episode came out this week (June 11)! (: The first episode was a perfect starter and some questions were answered. I love watching this show because it's relatable yet surreal - can't wait to see what will happen this season!

Media Rave Sunday #1

I've decided to showcase my favourite finds in the media industry every week (: Without further ado:
Music

Everything Has Changed (Music Video) - Taylor Swift & Ed Sheeran

Truth be told, this song was never one of my favourites on her latest album... until now! I LOVE the music video. I find it incredibly adorable, matches the lyrics of the song and I think it even makes it more meaningful (: Watch it!

TV / The Big Screen

After most of the tv series that I've been watching (i.e Glee, How I Met Your Mother, The Carrie Diaries, Once Upon A Time) finished the season finale, I had to find another one! And my friends recommended Modern Family (: I'm still on the first season but I love it so far! I love how they incorporate many different family scenarios which makes it more interesting, relatable and hilarious! It's nothing dramatic but a good watch after a long day (: Plus, one episode is about 20mins which means I won't feel so guilty when I watch one instead of doing my homework :P If you don't watch this yet, give it a go (:

Star Trek Into the Darkness + OOTD

Double post today! Yayyy! Since today was the last day of my end of year exams, my friends and I thought we'd throw a mini celebration by going to the cinemas and watch... STAR TREK - INTO THE DARKNESS! Wheeee! It is the 12th installment in the Star Trek franchise and the sequel to Star Trek (2009)

Director: J.J Abrams
Notable actor/actress: Chris Pine; Zachary Quinto; Zoe Saldana; Benedict Cumberbatch; Alice Eve; Simon Pegg; Karl Urban

My verdict:
Without giving too much away, Star Trek - Into the Darkness is an action sci-fi film. To be honest, I'm not really into that kind of thing & just went along because my friends suggested it... but after watching the movie, I LOVE IT.  Although it is like most sci fi films with cool gadgets and shiz, the plot is amazing - lots of twists & unexpected events. I tried to guess what would happen next...but got it wrong everytime :( That just goes to show how intense and unpredictable (in a good way) this movie is! Whether you're a sci-fi fan or not, this movie is worth watching! Let's just say, future London = freaking awesome.

If this didn't entice you, go check out the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhz4A5BCMAA

OOTD / What I Wore

Top: Cotton On
Shorts: Unbranded
Nude tank top (underneath): Forever 21
Bag: Cotton On

Since I practically only had time to leave school after my last exam (which was Maths, ew.), come home & change, I opt for something simple and decided to play with neutrals! Hence the gold headband, tan/sandy coloured cropped tank & grey, tie-dye like shorts. The tank top was cotton mesh (...yea that's how I am going to describe it) which meant it was see through so I wore a nude tank to not make it obvious (: I love my grey tie-dye shorts because I have too many denim ones! Plus, they are frayed at the bottom! Got my bag as a Christmas present from mum a few years ago & it's still going strong (: It's big enough to fit almost everything but the down side is that you can't be too many heavy things in there and there are no compartments so it's hard to find what you want sometimes :/
(Please excuse the stains :/)

Shoes: Vincci

I was going to wear my gold glittery flats, but I was in a rush & couldn't find them so I thought the next best thing would be my favourite floral flats (: AND it sort of matched my bag too :D

Have you watched Star Trek - how did you like it? (:

Song of the day: Just Give Me A Reason - P!nk ft. Nate Ruess

One of my favourite songs so far - it is amazing. The melody, chords, lyrics.... everything.

I also love, love, love the cover of this song by Sam Tsui, Kurt Schneider & Kylee which you can watch here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCi3lo1JaQI

What's your song of the day?
